The Magical 18th of A Magician

First and foremost, I would just like to wish Mr. Peter Ong Yuen Chiek A.K.A. magician of PFS a wonderful year, and may the magic be with you... Last week, on Friday was his 18th birthday and we all kinda planned to celebrate it in Queensbay. I would much prefer Prangin or Guney due to the distance, but Queensbay is nearer for him, and he is the highlight of the day, so its his choice.

The day before, SauFei, ShinYe, Kerry and I decided to buy him a cake for his birthday, at Eden. I know it ain't the best place to buy one but heck, we practically burn a lot of holes in our pocket in PFS... On that day, our plan was almost ruinned when YuenChiek actually wanted to follow us for lunch. I was suppose to order the cake immediately after lunch... Anyways we manage to distract him, and even get to ask him about his allergies so we don't kill him with our cake :P .

On Friday, the moment has come. As usual, wake up call from Eu Teong. He arrived early at my place, since he promised to teach me Physics on Pn. Ros's part. Then, went to pick up the cake and then SauFei. Went straight to Queensbay afterwards. I also got to know that YuenChiek, ShinYe, Kerry's house and EuTeong's old house are connected in one lane, and later, branched out to a mini lane each to reach their residential areas...

Reached Queensbay, and we were shocked that we were the only ones arrived... ShinYe just finish preparing, Kerry was on her way, and the rest would be late. We stopped at Old Town because we were undecided on where to eat. The cake would also melt if we decide to long, so we had to figure out a place like, QUICK! In the end, it is decided that we will go to Manhattan Fish Market.

Waited for Kerry and ShinYe to arrive. Then, YuenChiek called and said he arrived! He is actually parking his car right now... We have to stall him or else he is gonna know we bought a cake... EuTeong told him we were in Borders, and somehow, he bought it. We bought enough time to wait for ShinYe and Kerry. Went to MFM and asked to refridgerate the cake like, quick... To be honest, that was my 1st time in MFM... The food was in overly-larged portions, not to mention the price. But SauFei said it will be worth it if a gang come and dine there. He is indeed proven right afterwards.

Ordering-dillema...

The food looks good, but the price is super pricey... He suggested a platter for 3, and a single meal for 1, to share with the 6 of us. He claimed that it is enough for the 6 of us. When we were ordering, YuenChiek arrived at MFM since SauFei told him we were there 10 minutes before that. Photo moments.
Frisbee-thingy, made of wood, surprisingly...
Blur-blur...

Waited long for the food. Man they were slow in cooking them... And when the food arrived, we looked like 6 bloodhounds just hunted their prey after starving ourselves for 1 week...

These are the before-moments of the meal...
Fish and chips, forgot what fish is it...
Some platter, very nice...

The after-moments of the meal... Time recorded, approx. 30 minutes...
Clean...
Clean...

Well... we were all quite satisfied with the meal. It really hit the spot well... Eu Teong grabbed most of the food, and later, regretted a bit because a dessert will be coming pretty soon. Went to talked to the waitress to serve the cake, and waited again. MAN they were slow!
Mr. Surprised...
*Cut* Chocolate Sponge Cake

Then, Arvind, BoonWue and Randy arrived just on time for a group photo and to eat the cake, of course...

Someone called for the cherry quicker than birthday-boy...

Afterwards, ShinYe insisted on YuenChiek to perform the tradition of all birthdays, which is to bite out the candles from the cake, with your teeth. Hesitating at 1st, he decided to do it for the sake of the day...
I'm not gonna eat the top part...
Which face is funnier, the b'day boy, or the "kelefeh" on the side?

Daarmesh came later, just before we cut the cake and distribute them. Lucky dog he is...
XX Chromosome + Complex Carbohydrate = Broken Weight Scale...

After meal, we decided to take a walk before going to the movie, since the late-comers except Daarmesh hasn't had their meal yet... Walked around the top floor and took a few photos...
L to R: SauFei, EuTeong, YoursTruly, Daarmesh

Then, we went to the 'open' toilet located somewhere very deserted in the corners of the mall... The toilet was decorated and painted wonderfully, and its suprisingly CLEAN! The reason why its called 'open' is because right in front of a sink is an open-view of the outside road, without windows, instead of a mirror... However, there is a large mirror at the side, and vain moments have arrived...
L to R: YuenChiek (b'day boy), Me, SauFei, EuTeong and Daarmesh

Walked more and we stumbled upon some childhood fun-machines. Then the girls forced us to enter them, since there were perfectly 5 boys, and 5 machines... EuTeong gladly went in though...
We slipped into 2nd childhood...
Again...

Then, we called Arvind and it seems that they have finished eating. Met them at KFC and went straight to the cinema. Surprisingly for this time, the boys were walking very slow while the 2 girls moved at jetspeed... We lost them a lot of times on our way to the cinema... Decided to watch "Chaw". Its a Korean movie based on the human activity, hunting without limits, which caused the wild boar at a village to mutate, and become gargentuous and has the craving of human organs...
Chaw
Longest movie ticket ever bought...

The movie was pretty boring at start, and after a while, it got scary, especially when the boar ate everything in a human, except the head... Then, it got very hillarious in the end... Overall, it was a good movie, and the grand finale was pretty... cool? Go watch it for yourself and you will see why the '?' is there.

The day is still young, and we dunno what to do... Off to the arcade then. Played DAYTONA, basketball, and some game that required a lot of strength, since my opponent is Arvind... Also some shooting game which I died pretty fast...
Suicide?
Money or life??!!

Went to Holland Fries and Arvind bought a packet of... well... fries, of course... Met HuiYee there, and went to Borders.

Found some interesting article though...
I'm gonna need this as a car sticker...
Imagine if I bought this for my dad on Father's Day... I'll be homeless...

Went back home afterwards... Gotta fetch Eu Teong back to his place, and man, the traffic is so congested because of Deepavali...

Phew... that was long... Hope you guys didn't fall asleep or clicked 'X' in the middle of reading this post...

Moongate... Again???

Surprise, surprise, look where I went! It is out of the ordinary for a couch potato like me to go such a place, don't you agree? Well well, the sole purpose of going to Moongate is of course, hiking!

Moongate

This hiking trip is actually organized by a club. I joined for fun since I'm rotting inside my home. Went to school to fetch Yuen Chiek, since he doesn't know the direction to Moongate. Reached Moongate at 8am sharp, and to my shock, only Kerry and AnnGie is there.... ShinYe went to park her car somewhere else, and ended up directly in front of the Moongate.

Minutes later, it started to drizzle. I get messaged from Eu Teong complaining about the rain, and not able to participate the hike because of that... I presume most people think that way. In the end, its only Me, YuenChiek, AnnGie, Kerry, ShinYe, SauFei, and Wong that participated. A Form 2 boy came, but went back after that. The teacher advisor came as well, and as us to hike by ourselves since the attendance is not good (all were from my class, except Wong...). Therefore, we hiked by ourselves...
I ain't no in a mood for photoshoot...

Moments of vain before hike...

Then, off we go! We have 2 photographers for this trip, YuenChiek and AnnGie (in fact, these photos are from AnnGie's camera). So we moved slower because they were taking photos practically every 20 steps we took. SauFei and Wong on the other hand, doesn't really know about this, therefore, moving with jetspeed. The rest of us tried to catch up real fast...
Tired also wanna pose...
Too tired... rest for a while...
The path...
Some random plants...
AnnGie loves plants huh...

Afterwards, something happened to one of us, and the rain started pouring very slowly, so we decided to descend... This is probably the shortest hiking trip I have ever been on. The longest being my Penang Hill trip blogged a few posts before this.
Descending...

With nothing else to do, we decided to go to Youth Park for... no apparent reason? Just feel like going there since we had nothing to do. Rode on ShinYe's car. We were like sardine fishes since there were 6 of us... And by the way, nice parking ShinYe. No side/middle mirror needed, nor the need to look to the back when doing reverse parking!

Walked to the pond, and the girl started vaining...
Vain 1
Vain 2
They dragged us boys in too...

Afterwards, we decided to head for home... I gotta fetch YuenChiek back to school and SauFei back to... apparently... KFC... to buy some Cheesy Wedges. After heading back, I slept for a moment, and switched on my MSN. It seems like they haven't gone back yet, since they crapped a lot in my chatbox =.= .

AnnGie sent me a few photos to upload in Facebook, and it seems like they went for DimSum before heading home. These are the few photos of them in the DimSum Shop.
3 girls... this much??
Yamcha!
L to R: YiSou (Kerry), DaiSou (AnnGie)
L to R: AhBu (ShinYe), DaiSou (AnnGie)

Well, thats the end. Gah, finger cramp...

The Exam Chills

Last week, I had my finals speaking examination for MUET. I was suppose to do before the Raya holidays but somehow, it got delayed. On that day, only Melvin and I were present, the other 2 of the group went missing, or rather, was absent. Therefore we were the only 2 people that day for the exam.

In MUET, there are 2 tasks for us to complete.

Task 1- Individual performance, 2 minutes to speak, 3 minutes maximum.
Task 2- Group performace, 10 minutes to speak, 2.5minutes each, no more.
Each task is given about 1~2 minutes to prepare.

The finals was easier than I expected. Eventhough Melvin and I were the only ones speaking, it turned out quite well. We did butt in on each other too much, which is not good, our elaborations were actually relevant. Therefore, nothing much exciting about that.

Now, comes the REAL one... Today, I had to sit the National MUET Exam, standardised for every school in Penang, not sure if the whole Malaysia is involved. Its the End-Year exam, so mostly should consist of Upper-6 students who wanna retake, but somehow, its only the Lower-6es on the 1st session.

My group consists of Chung Boon Wue as candidate A, me as candidate B, Lee Siu Ming as candidate C and Foo Si Kai as candidate D. As I arrived the library, the place the exam will be held on, buttterflies evaded my stomach. At 7.30, we were told to go to the toilet because starting from 8, we will be quarentined until we finish our exam.

After a few minutes, the examiner walks in and gave us a brief explanation on the exam, and to my surprise, she speaks perfectly fluent English, WITH British slang... I was damn amazed by her language ability, considering her as a normal Malaysian, speaking in such a sophisticated accent. But before she briefed, I noticed something, where is Foo Si Kai??

It seems like he is absent, which makes my group members panicked a little. So, Pn. Mani pushed every position up, making Shafina as candidate A for Group 3 into candidate D for Group 2. After briefing, Group 1 enters and they started their exam. I was so nervous I held my head down on the table. Waiting for our turn is one of the worst experiences when you are nervous, as it is just like adding salt to injury.

After half an hour, they are done. They gotta leave the library immediately as questions will be the same for all groups throughout the entire session. The next turn will be my group... *prays*... As Pn. Mani says 'Alright, ne...' all of my group members including me stood up. Pn. Mani had to stop us as she is just about to give a briefing, since the examiners are still calculating the marks. We had 4 false alarms that time...

Finally, our turn has arrived. I felt an adrenaline rush when I entered the room. The air-condition was turned on at maximum power, adding the nervous-ness by twice. Our question was, "The important factors that are affecting the reputation of the family". Luckily, I got income level, which is practically easy. Just talk like a money-faced sicko and you are done... I talked for about 3 minutes until the examiner asked me to end it up with the sentence.

Next, the group speaking presentation. This time, I jumped from income level to occupation, as I think that with great occupation brings great income level. However, the other 2 group member jumped to education... So, its like a 3 vs 1 battle... I don't really have much points as this is a group talk, but I did not expect this to happen... When they asked our group to conclude, I messed up, and in the end, EVERYONE concluded the group talk... The examiners were laughing silently as only one person is needed to end it up...

That's pretty much all about the exam...After it was all done, went out of the library and into my classroom. NO studies for the whole day, except 2 periods of math... I should've gone home...

Scorching Hot Hiking Trip

I seem to be blogging about events 1 week after it has happened. Last week during Raya holidays, my classmates and I decided to go hiking to Pantai Kerachut as we were all rotting in our houses doing nothing, practically. We tried inviting as many people as possible to join us but it seems that the word 'hiking' repels their interest... So in the end, only 6 of us remained...

I woke up 6 in the morning, got ready and went to Free School, as we all promised we will reach at 7. I reached at 7 sharp, and my car is the only one there... Where the hell are they?! Called Arvind, and it seems that Randy will be a 'little' late... So went to McD to have a breakfast and met Shin Ye there, who will be joining the hike. We chat for a while and Sau Fei arrived. Chat again, and Arvind arrived. We may have talked about 5 different topics that time... Shinye and I were talking in Hokkien, while Arvind and Sau Fei tuned in their DotA language... 7.45, Randy arrived, and we head off to hi... Waidaminit, there were only 5 of us right? Seems that we gotta go fetch Eu Teong since his house were on our way. 3 cars available, but we decided to squeeze in Arvind's car since there were only 5 of us that time...

On our way, we reached Eu Teong's house. The problem has risen. How do we fit 6 people into a Saga? Gah, let us be Sardine fishes for the day. Another 30 minutes to the base of Pantai Kerachut.

Sea-view

We signed in our names to the office, its a procedure all hikers have to do before we hike, in case if any mishap happens, they could send a search team to rescue us. We wanna start hiking, but Miss Little Ah Bu here, got caught up with the kittens. After a few more minutes, we started hiking.

They embarked on their wonderful journey...
Some plant I stumbled upon, and I was bored!

Stopped at a few pit stops.
Taking a good pic, but Arvind gotta show his' sexy' leg... *BLUEKS!*

Not accurate at all... 'Bo chun!'

The hiking process was pretty boring, as we rarely hook up a conversation. Even if we do, its DOTA DOTA DOTA DOTA... I wonder whats so fun about DotA, I never played it, and hopefully, never will considering so many of my friends are addicted to it. Eu Teong had some slight troubles with the hike since he forgot to have breakfast... After about an hour or more, we reached Pantai Kerachut! I'll let 'em pictures do the talk again, lazy I am.
Aww, how sweet...
Leg Model --> Arvind.
Spectators: "WOW! *claps claps*"

Emo Boyz
Eu Teong spotted a girl?

Riverside, rose to knee-deep when we were departing...

Gay Boyz
Friendship Forever!
They abandoned the group and came here...
Sau Fei poses and Eu Teong stole his food...

Arvind and Eu Teong, standing under a tree, (fill in the blanks yourself)...

Afterwards, Shinye realised that the Gold bangle on her leg went missing, it must have driven off when she was playing with the water... Our whole gang searched the entire river, but lady luck was not with us... Shinye called this incident 'fate'... Anyways we decided to head home, we were barefooted and the sand on the upper area were as hot as volcanoes! My feet was practically burning as I run across the hot sand... Even people with slippers felt the heat...

As we rest, the boatman aproached us, and tried to convince us in taking the boat back to the base. When he was coming, Arvind warned us about something.

Arvind: Hey, when he come, he will say the price for the boat per head is Rm20 la, Rm15 la, then he will add discount till Rm10.

Me: That expensive meh?

Arvind: Actually Rm10 only, they bluff wan.

Then,

Boatman: Nak naik kapal tak, Rm15, kami bagi diskoun sampai Rm10 seorang. Peluang baik ni.

Arvind, Eu Teong, Shinye, Randy, Sau Fei, Me: (*laughing silently*)

Shinye: Rm8, kalau tidak tak mau dah.

Boatman: Tak boleh la, 6 orang saja, 8 orang pun tak boleh...

Shinye, Sau Fei: Kalau macam tu, tak mau la...

Boatman went to discuss about it with his fellow mates, and came back.

Boatman: Ok la, Rm8 seorang.

All: *hesitating*

Me, Shinye, Saufei, Arvind: RANDY, DECIDE!

Randy: *Shocked* Hm....

All: Faster la!!!

Randy: Ok la, naik boat!

Went to the shore, and to the port. The port was connected to a line of bottles arranged to form a platform. Shinye says she got hydrophobia *lies*, but actually, she cant swim =.= . She screams of fear and the boatman purposely shook the platform for fun. She screamed again... When we all got into the boat, the engine started.

On da boat!
Turtle-shaped rock...
Crocodile head-shaped rock...
Close up...

Went back to the car park, and went to Eu Teong's place to send him home. Arvind demonstrated the 'Fast and Furious: Saga Drift" drive and the 'Discovery Channel: Snake Movement' drive... I was a bit scared of his driving... Went back to McD, and drove home. Luckily I replaced the tuition on Monday, as I will be drained to go to any tuition that day. As I went home, I discovered I had sunburn on the back of my neck! It hurts for a few days, and it became VERY obvious in day 2... Shinye got sunburns on her hands and face, so does Randy and Sau Fei. Not so sure about Eu Teong, and Arvind has natural protection from the sun *I'M NOT BEING RACIST HERE, GO WATCH DISCOVERY!*.

Thats all about the hiking trip, pretty exhausting and pretty hot... The sunburn recovered by the way...

BOSLIB 4th Annual Dinner

Hmmm, finally I decided to blog about this. Should've been blogging about this last week but it seems that my lazy bones took over... Anyways, the Board Of Student Librarians had the 4th annual dinner to celebrate the 40th anniversary on the existence of the Library, or also called Kutub Khanah Tunku. it was held in the school hall of PFS because the budget was kinda tight and not everyone is willing to pay RM55 for a hotel room with sucky food. We decided to do catering and decorate the hall by ourselves.

The stage wordings

Welcome, Shyamala did a really good job...

We also had to rent tables for the guests of course, as there are no tables free of charge or available for us. We added a bowl of mini candles though to make it look decent and maybe, slightly romantic *nonsense*...

The table and seatings...

I went early to help out with anything left undone, but its seems pretty much ok, so I walked around taking pictures.
The prizes for lucky draw...

Princess Toh Ann Gie

Grandpa took photo with grandson...

2 lovely ladies working in the register...

Lucky draw bowl, nice huh...

After that, the dinner begins with the speech by Heal Librarian, Thinagaran. Less than a minute speech, and was continued by the Teacher Advisor, Mr. Tan. Before the dinner begins, we had a little game. Everyone will receive a piece of paper cut from a picture, and they were supposed to find the picture it was cut from. The pictures were pasted on the base of the arch in the hall, and supposingly, there will be 8 people in each group. The 1st group to hand in all 8 pieces arranged properly into a photo to Randy wins.

After that, the dinner begins... *music rolls*

FOOD! The ladies get to take 1st, before us gentlemen...

More food...

During the dinner, the video that Thina helped me make was played. I was very nervous because the video was not that well made because I didn't have Adobe After Effects, nor I know how to use it... It was clearly, noobly made with Windows Movie Maker. Luckily the crowd didn't think so, which relieved me... I was too nervous and was looking for paperbags for my face when the video is played I didn't take any photos...

Then it was the Lucky Draw Part I. Pictures will do the talking.
Agnes won a lucky draw

After that, performances from the duty days, Monday+Wednesday, Tuesday and Thursday. Monday+Wednesday was a complete chaos, since neither days have prepared anything. Tuesday was a drama of an ugly guy, Banana, got rejected by 2 girls, and wishes to change. The fairy later changes him into a pretty girl, and she was caught to be the 99th wife of the king. The prince saves her and somehow, she changed back to an ugly guy. The End... Thursday was a dance, consisting 3 people, song was something Criminal, by Michael Jackson. *I'm not a fan of him*

Afterwards, prize presentation Part II. Pics will do the talking again.
Khang Yang won a lucky draw...

Afterwards, cake cutting ceremony. We bought a cake, written 40th anniversary. The committees of term 2007/2008, 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 get to cut the cake... Poor cake... cut 3 times in front of the whole guest... Again, didn't take any picture because I was up there, and couldn't get a nice angle...

After that, another game. A simple pass-fishball-through-spoons-with-your-mouth game. Whoever gets most fishball to the end wins.

After the game, photoshoot session, whoever wanna take photos, they are free to do so. After that, the dinner ends and the day is ov.... NOT QUITE YET!!! Committees had to stay back and clean the hall... The most tiring session among all sessions throughout the whole day... Went back at 12am and reached home at 1am due to the friggin' flood that causes the traffic to be god damn congested... Thats pretty much all about the dinner...

BOSLIB Annual Dinner Preparation

Ah.... The main project of Board Of Student Librarians will be launching its program tomorrow... On the 18th of September 2009, the 4th annual dinner held by BOSLIB to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Kutub Khanah Tunku, will be held in the Sacred Hall of Penang Free School... Many might think this idea is absurd, but it actually cuts a LOT of cost, and it might even be memorable since it IS the library of Penang Free School...

Though, one major problem... The last day of SPM Trials was today. Therefore, we had to clean up the hall, arrange the tables, carry some plants for decoration, sort out the chairs according to the table and stick the wordings on the stage. The job is not only for Thinagaran, of course, it involves all (well, most, since not all turned up) of the committees of BOSLIB. I actually stayed back to finish up the video I'm suppose to present during the dinner, but somehow, I got dragged into this activity... I'm gonna let the pictures do the talking for the cleaning part...

Laura Teh, slave-driver...

Magheswaran, slave-driver wannabe, but failed...

The hall after the desks were all cleared up...
One of the sla... *AHEM* committee cleaning up...
Slackers slacking?
Pretty much cleared up, just need to throw the rubbish...
I have no idea what they were doing...
Poser...
'Taylor Swift', Malaysian-version...
Pro in action...
Sleepy, yet happy for some reason...

Thanks pretty much all of the cleaning part... Went to the library to continue of the video presentation. Took like 1 hour and a half to complete everything... This is the 3rd video I did for ONE OCCASION! The other 2 were kinda rejected... 1st video took Sau Fei like 7 hours to complete, 2nd video took me 6 hours to complete, and 3rd video took a total of 5 hours + to complete, since the photos were actually pre-inserted...

Went back to the hall to show the video, some giggles, and some serious faces, good or bad? I don't know, and seriously, I don't wanna know... Bringing a plastic bag to cover my face when this video is being presented...

I'll post more when the dinner ends, hopefully it would turn out successful and better than what we all had expected. We have achieved the target of total participants, so hopefully things will be in control from now...

Nyonya-Style Dinner

I seem to be crapping a lot about nonsense in this blog nowadays... Ah well, these seems to release some stress outta me so why not? 2 days ago, went to Perut Merah, a Bungalow-Style Nyonya-Food Restaurant. In the outside, it looks like an old house that was just given a paint job. Inside, the atmosphere was totally different... Beautifully decorated... But of course, such beautifully decorated places don't serve food priced at RM1~5... and I was right... Simple dishes could actually skyrocket to the top...

This shot is great for "Little Nyonya" DVD cover.. haha!

Brought our own wine, 5 litres. God, there's only 13 people, 5 litre is a little too much... Well anyways, my uncle is vegetarian, so he gotta walk to the opposite side of the road to buy vegetraian sub from SUBWAY. Got bored waiting for food so I took pictures of items close to my seat.
Old time equipments... with a vase of flower.

After that, dinner was served. It was neither suprising, special or good, since most of the dishes are what my mom use to make at home, and mom's cooking are always the best *slurp*! Everybody keep helping themselves with the food before I could even take a picture of the dishes...
Nasi Ulam... and other dishes...

As we all know, the eating process won't take long, probably 20~30 minutes, and all the food was cleared up. Then, its the talking session. That day, every single aunt and uncle from my father's side of the family (practically, my grandma's childen) came. I was the only one from my generation. My sister, cousins and relatives were all absent. So, no conversation for me... They keep talking about finance, political stuffs, Malaysian status, etc. etc. I was listening to my MP3 all along, and my aunt called me anti-social... Sigh, there was nothing much to talk about that time anyways, those weren't exactly my favourite topic...

I thought the talking session would be over soon, but to my deep anger, it lasted 3 LONG HOURS! I've listened to the same song repeating over and over again just to wait for them to finish their conversation. They stayed so long because there were loads of leftover for the wine... I prefer driving to Kuala Lumpur than to sit in this boring occasion... Hopefully I don't get invited to such occasions anymore... Keeping my fingers crossed my parents and any of my uncles/aunts won't see this...
